Tarlac PPO holds Media Relations Seminar
PSSUPT ALFRED S CORPUS, in his message said the seminar aims to disseminate policies and specific guidelines on proper dealings with the media in releasing news and information to the public. Guest lecturer PSSUPT WALTER E CASTILLEJOS, C, RPCRD, PRO3 discussed topics involving working with the various media personalities. The purpose is to inform the public of the police mission, policies and practices in a positive, consistent and credible manner especially in crisis management. Also given emphasis was the proper coordination with responsible people in the media especially the reporters and writers in terms of producing news and feature articles for public consumption. It is imperative to do this to prevent false public perception that may lead to confusion.
Police and Media Ink Cooperation Deputy Police Director for Administration PSupt Florante L.Torres and Internal Affairs Service Provincial Director PSupt Josie T. Tibuc with officers and representatives of the local media made the pact to ensure proper cooperation and coordination in dealing with situations where people’s lives are at stake. Police Community Relations Branch Chief PSupt Elsa F Miranda said the MOU is a proactive action to synchronize police power with that of the media which is considered the fourth state. While the law enforcers prevent and control crimes to maintain peace and order, the media shall provide the citizenry accurate, relevant, and timely information. These are vital components in attaining positive growth in the countryside.
